Make credit work for you
Improve your credit score
Your credit score affects the options available to you for big life moments like renting an apartment, financing a car or buying a house. You can improve your score by paying bills on time, using less than 30% of the credit available to you and keeping your oldest accounts active.
Avoid expensive fees - pay your balance in full
Credit cards charge 16% to 25% in annual fees on any amount you don't pay off each month. That's expensive. To avoid fees, use your credit card for expenses you can pay off each month.
Get the most points and discounts when you spend
You can pay for travel, shopping, and entertainment with credit card points. You can also get discounts when you shop. Check out the monthly offers and benefits on your card. For example, I have gotten a free 1-year subscription to Lyft Pink, discounts on my Scribd subscription, and $15 back on my Lulus.com shopping from my credit card. Figure out what you spend on and choose the card that gives you the most benefits for your spending.
